"I walked into this experience tired after serving in the same type of work for more than 30 years. Cornerstone (Kurt) was able to help me refocus on the work that I do, set reasonable goals for the future and rediscover the aspects of the work that I do that truly brings me joy. I am thankful for the experience, thankful for the direction and thankful for the freshness that has been restored to my work." - Coaching Client There comes a point in our lives when we need a vision. Balance, passion, energy and joy for life is the result of having a personal, inspiring, sustainable vision of who we are and what we are meant to do. A lifetime can be spent on pursuing such a vision. There are perhaps one hundred ways to seek, cultivate and sustain a personal vision. One way is to have a vision coach. A vision coach can travel with you on the quest and guide you through an exploration of mind, body, and spirit. The coach can help you review your history, see your present reality, and help you create your future. The relationship with the vision coach is intentional, prescriptive, prayerful and personal.
The original vision quest was a ritual practiced by many native peoples of North America. A young person began the quest at the sweat lodge in the circle of elders. The youth then experiences a solitary encounter in the wilderness that includes fasting and prayer. At the appointed time, a sacred person brings the youth back to the village, where they will have one more sweat lodge and the vision will be interpreted. The interpretation of the vision gives the youth an awareness of the sacredness of life and their connection to all of nature. Your personal vision quest with the coach will include one trip to a natural setting.
Every personal vision quest process is different. Each process should be designed to fit your need, however, you can recognize that there are no short cuts. Vision Quest process is primarily a guided exploration of self-awareness followed by planning and behavioral change exercises. Here is one example of how it might be designed.
